SO. MANY. NEW. THINGS! posted 2012-02-09

We've been extremely busy over the last few days doing what we love doing: making PyroCMS more epic. You can use our great new demo, we've made a bunch of new Documentation, there has been loads of progress on v2.1-dev and v2.0.2 is out to fix a few things.

Bug Fixes

  • Improved IE8 compatibility.
  • Fixed the display method to properly return the $pages data array as an index within another array.
  • Use display_name instead of first + last on profile
  • Updated Dutch language
  • Fixed issue #1073: Folder dropdown is cut off when more than 3 folders exist.
  • Fixed issue #1063: Database port number was not being sent in the installer ajax check
  • Fixed issue #1113: Issue on install where some servers return FALSE from glob instead of an empty array.
  • Made a few tweaks for better Social Integration support.
  • Fixed a bug in the contact form where multiple drop-downs would end up with their values appended to the next one.
  • Fixed issue #1089 to fix admin navigation bug with Users menu

New Demo

We've been linking to the Softaculous demo for a long time now and they've done a terrible job of keeping it stable. I'm not sure what's been going on but that thing has been down much more than it's been up. We weren't using Pingdom, but based on your comments it would be a surprise if they've even had 10% uptime.

That is no good. We would hate to get a bad rep for their mistakes, so we've got our own demo now! We've tried to restrict users from doing anything that will change the password or do stupid things but there is always one jerk will mess it up for everyone: they always do. The team will be working on it and checking in every day, but if you spot anything get in touch. It will get more secure as time goes on.

New Documentation

Our documentation has been getting better over time and now it's bordering on ridiculously good. Right now we have two types of Documentation: Manuals and API. API is for the hardcore developers and Manuals are for everyone to learn about how things work. We've put together a new Documentation page to keep track of where all the content is!

We've also got our new 2.1-dev documentation up on the site, which is downloadable too! It's a work in progress and we really would appreciate any help from the community on this one. Get involved, the docs are on GitHub!

Progress with 2.1

The 2.1/develop branch is still steaming ahead, but while we sadly had to pull the "Subscriptions" feature from Professional we've got pretty far on making the RESTful API. Another epic new feature we've got all HTML and JS and CSS Assets minifiying and combining, which shaves about 25% off your bandwidth just by upgrading. Fantasmical!

Keep giving us feedback guys, we're getting better and better every day and a lot of it is down to the great community we have. Don't forget to follow us on Twitter, like the Facebook Page or if you have the time and money grab your CMS Expo ticket with a $100 off by our discount code "PyroCMS"!

Great work guys. Can you add the login details for the demo site to the blog post? Or maybe right on the demo page itself?

Our team has really enjoyed using PyroCMS and are close to implementing it as one of our core CMS development frameworks. Great job and keep it up.

Great to heat things are going well!

Any chance you could provide more info about the subscriptions being removed? Will we be seeing it return in say 2.1.1 or was there a major problem?

Thanks & keep up the great work :)
