PyroCMS v0.9.8 nears final with BETA 3

Another BETA release in the v0.9.8 line has been released which brings us very close to a stable release. Plenty of bugs have been fixed and a few more small features have been added.

Features

  • Navigation add/edit form is now much more user-friendly.
  • Removed all CAPTCHAs and use Akismet and some clever trickery to check for spam.
  • Upgraded to Google Async Analytics.
  • Added editable 404 page which actually sends 404 header
  • Navigation links are drag/drop sortable in admin
  • URI slugs in News and Pages are now editable
  • Updated default theme to use entirely Dwoo syntax as an example.
  • Required metadata such as jQuery / front.js loading is now handled internally so theme designers dont need to remember it.

Bugs

  • Lots of JavaScript bugs fixed.
  • More support for running MySQL in strict mode.
  • Spanish, French and German have been updated so less errors and English text can be expected.
  • Modal windows were not loading.

Another big change is the switch to the Apache Software License. This is much less restrictive and stops business users from having to share bqack any of their code. This means developers could create and sell modules, themes etc legally and stops confusion over wether people can sell sites built with PyroCMS. Now, you can.

We have also started filling the "Documentation" section with guides and reference lists for Developers, Translators and Designers alike.
